Volunteer Program

The Schaap Ambassador Corps Program provides an opportunity for people in the community to be part of an outstanding hospitality experience. In this role, you will serve as ambassadors of hospitality, excellence, and artistic access. Whether greeting patrons at the door, assisting with seating, supporting special events, or leading tours, volunteers represent the heart of our commitment to service and community partnership.

Program Purpose

The Schaap Center Volunteer Program exists to:

  • Enhance the patron experience at every performance and event
  • Support front-of-house operations with professionalism and warmth
  • Promote accessibility and inclusivity for all guests
  • Strengthen community engagement with the arts
  • Share the story and vision of the Schaap Center

Volunteers do not replace staff positions; rather, they provide essential support that allows our team to operate efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and safety.

Areas of Volunteer Service

Front-of-House Ambassadors

  • Volunteers serve as the first and last impression for our guests.
  • Ushers – Welcome patrons, distribute programs, assist with seating, and support safe and orderly audience flow.

Hospitality (greeters, coat check) – Provide way finding assistance and answer general questions about the facility and programming.

Docents & Community Storytelling

As a premier arts venue in the community, the Schaap Center will help visitors engage with the facility. Volunteer Docents serve as knowledgeable ambassadors who:

  • Lead tours of the facility
  • Share the history, vision, and architectural features of the center
  • Interpret exhibits or gallery displays
  • Strengthen community awareness of the Schaap Center’s cultural impact

Volunteer Commitment

Schaap Center volunteers are expected to:

  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and discretion
  • Adhere to dress code and conduct standards
  • Participate in required training sessions
  • Follow established safety and emergency procedures
  • Uphold the center’s commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and respect
  • Volunteer for minimum of five (5) events per season

Scheduling is managed through advance sign-up, and punctuality is essential to ensure a seamless patron experience.
