WAYS TO SERVE

Ushers

The first and last impression every guest carries home.

  • Welcome patrons & hand out programs
  • Assist with seating
  • Support safe and orderly audience flow

Hospitality & Greeters

The warm, knowing presence that makes a building feel like a welcome.

  • Provide wayfinding assistance
  • Answer general questions about the facility and programming
  • Coat check support

Docents

Storytellers who connect visitors to the art, the building, and the vision.

  • Lead tours of the facility
  • Share the history, vision, and architectural features of the center
  • Interpret exhibits and gallery displays

Note: Volunteers do not replace staff positions. They provide essential, complementary support that allows our team to maintain the highest standards of hospitality and safety.

Our Volunteer Commitment

  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and discretion at all times.
  • Adhere to dress code and conduct standards.
  • Participate in required orientation and training sessions.
  • Follow established safety and emergency procedures.
  • Uphold The Schaap Center's commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and respect.
  • Volunteer for a minimum of five events per season.

To ensure the safety of our volunteers, patrons, and staff, individuals must be 16 years of age to volunteer with the Schaap Center for the Performing Arts. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete any required consent forms before participating.

Certain volunteer assignments may have additional age requirements based on position responsibilities, event schedules, or applicable policies. The Schaap Center reserves the right to determine volunteer eligibility and placement based on organizational needs.
